BMW has used their experience from building straight six engines for cars into creating a modern café racer concept powered by a six-cylinder engine displacing 1600cc. This means 266cc for each cylinder of the so-called BMW Motorrad Concept 6, which won’t see the production line pretty soon, but word is out that the German car and motorcycle manufacturer will use this precise engine on their next LT grand touring model.
Surely, this isn’t the first two-wheeler powered by an inline six as Honda had the CBX1000 in 1978, but the impressive part about the modern bike is the fact that it is so narrow for this type of engine rarely used on motorcycles. But when it is used it smoothly delivers impressive amounts of torque, which is why we have great expectations in what regards BMW’s future touring lineup. The BMW R 1200 RT is new for 2010 and apart from the prettier face, the German tourer can now brag about being powered by a DOHC engine, which puts down 110hp and 88lb-ft of torque while revving no more than 8,000 rpm. This means the bike has two of the necessary premises to be a wonderful touring, but comfort completes the triangle.
Although features such as the second generation updated Electronic Suspension Adjustment system (ESA II), a generous fairing and windscreen as well as an audio system with MP3, iPod or USB sticks position the 2010 BMW R 1200 RT on the touring side of “sport-touring,” the new motorcycle has plenty of potency to compete with sportier motorcycles such as the Triumph Sprint ST 1050 and Moto Guzzi Norge 1200.

Urban traffic studies show that the city is precisely the environment where most crashes happen due to obvious reasons and BMW Motorrad is aware of that. What we’re interested in is the ingenious concept bike they’ve come up with as a solution to reduce the big number of motorcycle crash victims. Referred to as a “single track vehicle for city traffic”, the BMW C1-E concept is the electric version of the BMW C1 scooter, meaning that it protects riders with a safety cell made of roll-over bars and keeps them in the actual cell with the use of a seat belt.
Everything that rolls on wheels is green nowadays, so the BMW C1-E concept is powered by an electric motor made from Vectrix components and supplied with energy by a lithium-ion battery. Still, the thing could turn into a hybrid, but there’s no official word about production at this time. BMW is enjoying the benefits of their latest veritable touring bike, the K 1300 GT, which features electrically-adjustable windscreen as well as heated seat and handles as standard options. Although benefiting of an engine that produces 160 hp, the top speed is limited to 124 mph, so the new BMW would still have a hard time dethroning the
Kawasaki Concours 1400. Still, it makes for one hell of a contender.

Last year’s Intermot show in Germany saw BMW unveiling the 2009 K 1300 S, a bike that carries on the fame of the innovative K series by retaining the Duolever front suspension and single-sided swingarm with integrated shaft.
The new model makes a big impression on the industry’s scene not as much due to its 228 kg and 1293 cc inline-four engine that is capable of 175 hp, but more due to the optional quick shifter and the new ESA 2 (Electronic Suspension Adjustment) system.
Overall, the design hasn’t been changed except the slightly redesigned side fairings and black finished front air scoops. For 2009, the BMW K 1300 S is available in a range of new colors.

BMW has made its all-new S 1000 RR superbike official at last! Going through the performance data – 193 horsepower at 13,000 RPM, 82.5 lb-ft of torque at 9,750 RPM, 455.3 lbs. wet weight – we can’t help being amazed by what the German engineers could deliver; not that we ever underestimated them, but this is the best power-to-weight ratio of all literbikes so far and this is just a promising debut.
The bike will feature ABS and an extremely advanced traction control system as standard equipment while an HP Gearshift Assistant stands for full-power clutchless upshifts so we’re expecting it to break one track record after another.
Easy to distinguish due to the asymmetrical headlights and uniquely shaped fairing, the Beemer will lead to the development of racing bikes that will be piloted by Troy Corser and Ruben Xaus during the 2010 WSBK Championship. Starting from a street legal bike is the main condition for racing so expect it to go on sale in U.S at the beginning of 2010.

BMW presents the Lo Rider concept at EICMA in Milan as a new approach towards the roadster style and with plenty customization possibilities available in order for man to become one with the machine.
