Kia came at the SEMA Show with a line-up of customized SOUL crossovers. The first of them is Black “Sinister” Soul created by BuBuck Wild Designs. The matte sinister black exterior paint job is combined with Spectral gray accents and black-out custom trim.
The SOUL’s ride has been lowered and placed on 20-inch black rims. Its dark appeareance is being accentuated by smoked-out headlamps and tail lamps.
The Sinister SOUL features a 11-speaker 1,300-watt sound system, a pair of 12-inch single voice coil (SVC) subwoofers, driven separately by an 800-watt amplifier.
Well, it was auctioned off today at the Red Gate Gallery in Beijing for a whopping $1.75 million. Unfortunately, the identity of the winning bidder was withheld so we have no idea who he was, although, we do know that he’s probably rich enough to afford paying for this car.
If you recall, this uber-rare Ferrari, which incidentally was based from a limited edition 599 that is going to be exclusively sold in China, was designed by Mr. Hao with pottery patterns from the legendary Song Dynasty.
While the one-off 599 was the highlight of the auction, other Ferrari items were also up for bids, including racing overalls worn by Giancarlo Fisichella, as well as a helmet and model car that has been signed by no less than seven-time F1 world champion, Michael Schumacher.
The auction was done as part of a fund-raising where proceeds generated by the auction would go to the funding of a number of students and teachers from the Department of Automotive Engineering at Tsinghua University. These select group of students and teachers will be given the opportunity to go on a trip to the land of the Prancing Horse – Italy – where they’ll be given a chance to study at Politecnico di Milano University and take up an internship job at Ferrari.
The third customized Scion xB presented at SEMA Show is the xB Tuner Challenge by Brandon Leung, a concept car inspired by the 1970 Toyota Crown pickup.
It features a Five Axis Design 4-Piece lip kit, custom truck conversion and metal fabrication by ADF, custom two-tone paint by ADF, a new clutch, a limited-slip differential, a rear stabiliser bar and brakes.
Renault revealed today the ZOE Z.E concept electric car - a preview of the Renault production vehicle set for launch in 2012. The Zoe Z.E. is a 100% electric, zero-emission city car.
The car can be fastly recharged in 20 minutes, while a standard charge takes between 4 to 8 hours. The concept features an exclusive "Quickdrop" system that allows an empty battery pack to be swapped with a fully-charged pack in a matter of minutes.
The roof has been designed as an intelligent protective membrane that insulates against heat and cold, optimizes climate control, and recovers energy using honeycomb photovoltaic cells. The car features a
shield of polyurethane gel at the front and the back, acting as a second skin that protects vulnerable parts of the body in the event of mild urban impact.
Don’t you just love it when your car can do something other cars can only dream about doing, like, say, drive underwater?
This particular modified Hummer put its ‘swimming’ skills to the test as it drove head on into a river, completely submerging itself in the process. At one point, you can’t even see the Hummer, except for the exhaust sticking out like a snorkeling tube.
We’re pretty sure that his Hummer will come in pretty handy, especially during the wet weather season when floods begin to occur regularly.
Now if only there was a way to have more cars be able to drive effortlessly underwater.
Peter Colello has revealed at SEMA Show an innovative Scion xB. The car is painted in a Teal Blue Pearl and a 9-piece wide-body kit.
The customized car includes lots of carbon-fiber in the hood, hatch, wing and custom roof, and a color motif of teal to tie the exterior together. The car’s performance is being improved thanks to a new turbo kit, air-ride suspension, TRD exhaust, and an over-the-top in-car entertainment system, one of Colello’s signatures.
The great thing about SEMA that other auto shows can’t boast of is that you can find vehicles that are so out of the ordinary it begs for more than a few double takes. Take this truck from Dunkel Industries for example.
In as many words: it’s huge!
We don’t know whether this one’s for the books, but we do know that at 32 ft long, almost 9 ft wide, and 12 ft tall, it ranks right up there among the short list of enormous trucks that have made an appearance at SEMA. Dunkel Industries calls it the Luxury 4x4 (duh!) and if you take a closer look, you’ll notice that it’s a hybrid of a pick-up truck and an RV that has been fused together. By using a Ford F-650/F-750 chassis on the Luxury 4x4, Dunkel Industries was able to make a truck so big it really has no need for a trailer anymore.
After the SKR, Keating revealed today the first image of the TKR supercar, a model that was claimed to become the fastest production car. Tony Keating announced a top speed of 260 mph.
The Keating TKR is powered by a 7.0 liter engine that delivers a total of 1800 hp.
Chevrolet revealed at the SEMA Show the E-ROD concept vehicle. It is a fully restored 1955 Chevy powered by a 6.2-liter LS3 V8 E-Rod engine that delivers 430 hp and 424 lb.-ft. of torque. List price for the LS3 E-ROD package is $9,375.
The exterior wears factory-style chrome Bel Air trim, which accents the custom PPG colors applied by GM. On the inside, the E-ROD ’55 has an original-style appearance, with upholstery and other restoration items supplied by CARS Inc. The only noticeable variances include an IDIDIT adjustable steering column and Grand steering wheel.
We can never have enough of supercar rallies. Recently, a gathering of over 100 supercars converged at Wilton House in the UK for a charity supercar show that was attended by over 6,000 people from all walks of life. Among the festivities during the event included a race on a hillclimb course leading up to the gathering at Wilton House.
