Fresh off of the release of the all new Volvo C30 hatchback, the safety conscious Swedish automaker is also planning on producing an electric vehicle version of the new car. The electric Volvo will be known as the C30 Battery Electric Vehicle and will be powered exclusively by batteries feeding electric motors which will result in absolutely zero emissions and give the Volvo C30 BEV a range of up to 150 kilometers.
Volvo has already built a handful of the BEVs in order to conduct internal testing with the electric vehicles and advance their development of a plug in hybrid Volvo that is set to debut sometime in 2012. The Volvo C30 BEV is currently powered by a highly efficient Lithium-ion battery that can be recharged through a regular A/C power outlet, and after eight hours of storing juice is ready to travel up to 150 kilometers, perfect for the everyday commute to work or even a quiet and carefree Sunday drive. The C30 BEV is limited to 130 km/h and sprints from 0 to 60 MPH in less than 11 seconds.
Volvo feels that electricity is the fuel of the future and that zero emissions highways are what the next generation of new car buyers will be looking for. By combining an environmentally friendly power train with a stylish hatchback body, the Swedish automaker feels that the 2010 Volvo C30 BEV is the car of the future.

After the Swedish automaker Volvo unveiled the 2010 C30, the safety conscious car builder has also taken the wraps off of the new C30 R-Design, an iteration of the Volvo hatchback intended for those consumers who are looking for a much sportier ride, and they will be able to get their first look at the upcoming Frankfurt Motor Show before the car goes on sale early in 2010.
When designing the new C30 R-Design, Volvo’s engineers paid special attention to the C30’s structure and steering hidden underneath the hot hatch’s five spoke Cratus wheels. The driver inputs are now much more precise thanks to the installation of stiffer bushings and a 10% quicker steering rack ratio. The C30 R-Design has a firmer ride thanks to 30% stiffer springs in the suspension to promote the car’s poise for enthusiastic driving. The new mono tube shock absorbers have been stiffened as well in order to match the new coils and were chosen for their ability to build up pressure much more quickly. Even the car’s sway bars have been stiffened in order to reduce any tendency for the C30 to lean into corners.
The new sport chassis has made the C30 R-Design a better balanced and much more agile car. Driving feel is more distinct and feedback from the wheels are much more precise, promoting a more engaging experience when behind the wheel.

Volvo will unveil at the Frankfurt Motor Show the facelift version of the C30 hatchback. The new C30 comes with new exterior design, on both front and rear, and with a wide range of options, including an urbane, bold accessory styling kit.
At the front Volvo added new front bumper, the new headlamps, larger iron mark and also larger air intake, the black plastic panels have been replaced with more body colour lower down, in the same or a contrasting color, to forge a closer visual contact between the car and the road surface.
Also new for the C30 is a new optional sport chassis: it is considerably sharper, with stiffer, more distinct properties than previously. The new sport chassis is available in all C30 versions except for 1.6D DRIVe.

Volvo will unveil a revised version of the C70 Convertible at the Frankfurt Motor Show this September. The C70 is the first model from the Swedish automaker to feature design elements from the S60 Concept Car that was unveiled earlier this year.
Making up the restyled Volvo C70 includes a set of redesigned front fenders, a much more wedge shaped nose, new crystal like headlamps and some new trim surrounding the foglamps and the lower grille. For 2010, the C70 Convertible is being offered with three gas burning and two diesel engines: first is the T5 turbocharged five cylinder making 230 HP, the 2.4i pumping out 170 HP, the 2.4 cranking out 140 HP. The diesel mills consist of the D5 making 180 HP and the 2.0D that produces 136 HP.
The new Volvo C70 has been engineered to be one of the safest convertibles on the market, with regards to both active and passive safety. The car has an advanced body structure and several solutions that are unique to the C70 in the world of open top cars. The lack of a fixed roof doesn’t compromise the convertible’s structural integrity and has been compensated for by structural reinforcements and other sophisticated technology.

Volvo is set to reveal this R-Design version of the XC60 SUV. The new high performance crossover will be on display September 17th at the Frankfurt Motor Show. This rendering accentuates the hot rod’s muscular curves and stretched rear corners. Color matching is the of the major themes of the R-Design package, and with that bold a shade of red, why not slather it everywhere, except for the satin metal mirror housings and flush mounted roof rails of course. The Volvo design team decided to use a little bit of chrome to highlight the grill and air intakes.
Just like the running boards, the signature wheels wear XC engraving. The rims are five spoke Cratus aluminium rolling stock and are unique for the R-Design models. The standard XC wheel measures 18 inches in diameter, but on the R-Design, you get 20s as part of the purposeful and bold appearance. You need a wheel that large to fill the wheel well of an XC with standard ride height, maintaining that all important ground clearance that is so important for off-roading.
The interior will be made up of a dark color scheme centralized by a vertical center stack with a round interface in the middle and sport seats that are said to be “for cornering.” With all of the options in the aftermarket for tuning a slightly larger method of transportation, it is nice to see that the factory has already looked at a red-hot version. Like most styling exercises from the Swedish automaker, the XC 60 R-Design Concept should be even better looking in real life.

Volvo has just launched a special edition S60 to celebrate the end of an era. Only 880 Volvo S60 SEs will be offered in the U.S. when the car goes on sale later on this month. Prices for the special edition S60 will start at $30,950 for the front wheel drive version and from $32,750 for the all-wheel-drive model.
The Volvo S60 SE is powered by a 2.5 Liter turbocharged inline 5 cylinder engine that delivers 208 HP and 236 lb-ft of torque.
Standard equipment for the special edition will include: leather seating, electronic climate control, moonroof, sporty 17-inch aluminum wheels, heated seats, Rainsensor windshield wipers and headlamp washers. The Sewdish automaker is planning an all new S60 for 2010

Volvo revealed today the first official images and informations about the all-new 2009 XC60 that will make its world debut in March at the Geneva Motor Show. Sales of the car will start in Europe during the second half of 2008, while sales in North America will get under way in early 2009.
The new XC60 is being launched with a choice of three engines: the turbocharged T6 which produces 285 hp, and two variants of the D5 turbodiesel, producing 185 and 163 hp respectively. All Wheel Drive (AWD) is fitted as standard. In 2009 Volvo will add a new 2.4-litre version powered by a Euro 5 diesel engine producing 163 hp and with a CO2 rating of around 170 g/km.
A variety of intelligent safety systems are another important part of the XC60 model’s special character. The big news is City Safety - a unique feature that can help the driver avoid or reduce the effects of the type of low-speed impacts that are common in city traffic and traffic tailbacks. If the car is about to drive into the vehicle in front and the driver does not react, the car brakes itself.

Volvo UK has launched a new special edition C70. Called C70 Ice White, the new special edition is priced at £24,495 OTR and is available to order now; it features £2,350 worth of extra equipment over the standard 2.0D S model on which it is based which retails at £24,995.
Externally, the Volvo C70 Ice White sports the head-turning Ice White finish. The interior boasts sumptuous Calcite leather upholstery with black interior trim and aluminum inlays. The exterior appeal is also boosted with 18” Midir diamond cut alloy wheels.
The Ice White is powered by a four-cylinder 2.0D diesel engine (136PS), which emits 161g/km CO2 and returns up to 46.3mpg fuel economy on the combined cycle. Options include Volvo’s Powershift gearbox for £1,400 – a six-speed twin-clutch transmission which provides the comfort of a full automatic mode with the performance of a manual. Powershift versions return up to 44.8mpg and 167g/km CO2.

Volvo will unveil at the Geneva Motor Show the refreshed S80. Sales will begin in spring 2009.
The S80 will be powered by an entirely new twin-turbo five-cylinder 2.4-litre turbodiesel. The new D5 engine offers 205 hp, 420 Nm of torque over a very wide range of engine revs. Fuel consumption (EU combined) is only 6.2 l/100 km (164g/km) - a record-low figure for a car of this size and performance level. This state-of-the-art engine delivers all the fun without the headache.
The refreshed S80 is also available with an upgraded Euro 4-compliant 2.4-litre diesel engine with 175 hp, 420 Nm of torque, fuel consumption (EU Combined) at 5.8 l/100 km and CO2 emissions of 154 g/km (preliminary figures).
