We are well aware of what the German tuning firm 9ff is capable of when they put their minds to something, like the 253 MPH GT9R or the 850 HP BT2 complete with classic Gulf Racing livery. However 9ff is set to unveil something a little more mundane at the upcoming 2009 Essen Motor Show with the Speed9. While it is based on a 911 Turbo, 9ff is paying homage to the classic 1955 Porsche 356 1500S Speedster for all those high performance Porsche aficionados who want to ride around with the wind in their hair.
Thanks to modern day running gear, the only thing that is reminiscent of the old ’55 is the styling. Covering that aspect 9ff included a new ground effects package that consists of a new front apron, side skirts and rear bumper along with 9ff Speed9 sports seats and matching steering wheel. The 911 Turbo that serves as the vehicle’s foundation received an upgraded ECU, free flowing exhaust and a set of sport catalytic converters that let the bi turbo flat six breathe to the tune of 650 HP and 656 lb-ft of torque. Even though 9ff hasn’t let us in on any performance figures as of yet, you can expect the Speed9 to go faster than you ever want to with the top down.

When the German automaker BMW introduced the new Z4 Roadster to the world with their Expression of Joy campaign they showed off the car creating automotive art in a series of bright and brilliant colors, however one shade that they left out was matte gray, just like the exterior of this slightly modified Z4. No this isn’t a new color option from the luxury automaker, but instead an aftermarket applied foil that drastically alters the appearance of BMW’s new hard top roadster. The BMW 313 performance bicolor rims don’t hurt either.
As it comes from the factory the BMW Z4 is available with two different versions of the 3.0 Liter inline six, the sDrive30i makes 255 HP, and the boosted sDrive35i uses a set of twin turbos to lay down a maximum of 300 HP. The hard top convertible Z4 can be shifted with either a 6 speed manual gearbox or BMW’s newly developed double clutch sport automatic gearbox. The BMW Z4 sDrive35i makes the 0 to to 60 MPH sprint in just 5.1 seconds with the manual transmission and one tenth faster with the sport tuned automatic. However both models are limited to a top speed of 130 MPH, but you can get up to 150 MPH with the optional Sport Package. Just don’t expect to find this matte grey option at the dealership.
Porsche launched this days the official web page for the new Boxster Spyder. And for us this is a great new as we have the chance to enjoy a new image gallery with the latest Porsche sports car.
Short reminder: the new Boxster Spyder is powered by a 3.4-liter six-cylinder with Direct Fuel Injection that delivers total of 320 bhp - with 10 bhp more than the current top version of the Boxster line-up, the Boxster S. The car sprints from 0 to 60 mph in 4,8 seconds and can hit a top speed of 166 mph.
In 1980 Ferrari unveiled the 308 GTSi, the spider version of the 308 GTBi. The "i" in the model designation referring to the fitment of fuel injection. The car stayed into production through to the beginning of 1983, during which time 1749 examples were produced, in both left and right hand drive configurations.
Visually the new model was almost identical to the outgoing one, although the casting pattern of the five spoke alloy wheels changed slightly due to the fitment of Michelin TRX metric size radial tires. However, the imperial size Michelin XWX tyres on 14” wheels, or Pirelli P7 tires on 16” wheels were available as an option.
As with the 308 GTS targa roof model, the removable roof panel was stowed in a cover behind the seats when not in use, and the rear quarter windows behind the doors featured hinged satin black finished slatted covers.

Along with the coupe version, Ferrari also revealed the 308 GTS Quattrovalvole - the 308 GTB Quattrovalvole targa version. The car remained into production from 1982 to 1985, with 3042 units produced, in both right and left hand drive versions. All US market examples were fitted with catalytic convertors.
The Quattrovalvole part of the model name referred to the four valves per cylinder heads on the engine, which provided increased power over the preceding model.
Along with the other chages, also seen in the coupe version: the addition of a slim louvre panel in the front lid to aid radiator exhaust air exit, paired electrically operated door mirrors with a small enamel Ferrari badge on the shell, a revised radiator grille with rectangular driving lights at the extremities, and rectangular (instead of round) side repeater lights, on the targa version the removable grained satin black finished roof panel was stowed in a vinyl cover behind the seats when not in use.

In 1982 at the Turin Motor Show Ferrari unveiled the 208 GTS Turbo, a model inspired by the Formula 1 technology. The car was into production from 1983 through to 1985, during which time 250 examples were produced.
The model was firstly unveiled as a coupe - 208 GTB Turbo - with no intention for a targa roof vwariant, but due to strong demand, Ferrari decided to also bring a spider version.
Like the coupe version, the 208 GTS Turbo was also designed by Pininfarina. It featured a deep front spoiler with a row of five horizontal cooling slots just below the radiator grille and the front lid featured a row of satin black finished louvres to increase airflow through the radiator, due to the higher temperatures created by the turbocharging of the engine.

Another week-end, another supercar dead! This time a 2008 Lamborghini Murcielago LP640 Roadster. The accident happened in Manchester, UK.
It was a brand new Murcielago Lp640 with only 500 miles on the odometer. The driver was going with 130 mph on the highway when he couldn’t brake in time to avoid hitting another car from the rear. The supercar flipped and as you can see it is pretty much completely destroyed!
The Porsche Boxster line-up will see the addition of a new member in December at the Los Angeles Auto Show. The new Boxster Spyder will only weight 2,811 lb becoming the lightest model throughout the entire range of Porsche cars. Sales will begin in February 2010, with U.S. pricing starting at $61,200.
The Porsche Boxster Spyder is inspired by the legendary 550 Spyder - the first sports car from Stuttgart-Zuffenhausen developed specifically for racing but also homologated for the road. The sports car features a light soft, has a lower center of gravity and is equipped with an all-new sports suspension offering the best driving dynamics.
Under the hood Porsche placed a 3.4-liter six-cylinder with Direct Fuel Injection upfront of the rear axle. It delivers a total of 320 bhp - with 10 bhp more than the current top version of the Boster line-up, the Boxster S.
Like all the other latest Porsche models, the Boxster Spyder comes equipped with PDK and the Sports Chrono Package reducing its fuel consumption to 30.4 mpg. The car sprints from 0 to 60 mph in 4,8 seconds and can hit a top speed of 166 mph.
Press release after the jump.

In 1993, in the same time with the coupe version, Ferrari unveiled the 348 GTS - a model that replaced the 348 TS. Like its coupe brother, the 348 GTS remained into production for only one year.
This two-seater convertible offered the same specifications as the 348 GTB, with the choice of open or closed-top motoring and a layout that had by now become a Ferrari classic: as on the outgoing TS, the hard top was stowed away in the space behind the seats.
The GTS retained the stiff, stress-bearing chassis (featuring various section tubular front and rear sub-frames) of the coupe version while the styling, which remained unmistakably Ferrari, married elegance with excellent aerodynamics.

This should not be an introduction to the aftermarket tuners Wheelsandmore, that is because if you are a Top Speed regular then you most certainly have heard about the Wheeladmore Audi R8 customized by the German tuner, and today they have gotten our attention once again with this special edition Lamborghini Gallardo LP 560-4 called “YarroW”.
This wild Lamborghini wears a bright yellow paint job with a nice black stripe running down the middle as well as a set of their 6Sporz wheels measuring 20 inches in diameter and hide a racing derived coil over setup with adjustable rebound and compression dampening as well as a hydraulic lift that raises the front axel up by 1.77 inches and allows the slammed super car to easily enter or exit any steep inclines that it may encounter. Thanks to a special stainless steel exhaust system with a remote controlled valve, upgraded ECU and a carbon fiber air box; the 10 cylinder engine now makes a total of 620 HP, that’s up from the standard 560 HP offering, not to mention 580 lb-ft of torque. Wheelsandmore has once again shown us that a few simple thought out modifications can go a long way towards completely transforming the drop top Italian super car.
