Pres release
Following its participation in 2008, the aim of entering the Lexus LF-A in the gruelling Nürburgring 24-hour Endurance Race, is for engineers to obtain technological feedback for the sake of future mass-production of vehicles, as part of their ongoing developmental efforts. Lexus also intends to use the racing event as an opportunity to develop its human resources, especially by employing young mechanics as support staff.
The vehicle competing in the race, a prototype LF-A currently being developed with an eye on commercialisation, includes safety equipment for the race (roll cage, fuel tank, etc.), as well as a spoiler and other aerodynamic features. The development team has enhanced the vehicle’s performance this year by fine-tuning it in line with the racetrack, while specifications for the engine, powertrain, and frame remain largely unchanged.
