Mercedes SL Ultra Widebody by FAB

Mercedes SL Ultra Widebody by FAB

Mercedes Benz is still paying off the plastic surgeon for last year’s facelift to the SL-Class grand tourer, so we don’t expect them to do anything drastic anytime in the near future. However that hasn’t stopped the over the top aftermarket specialists at FAB Design from making a few changes of their own, and this time the changes are more than just cosmetic going further than skin deep.

The FAB Design SL has been given a new face with a very aggressive wide mouth front bumper, vented wide body fenders for the front and rear as well as a new diffuser underneath, however our favorite part of the bright white SL’s exterior are the color matched deep dish rims. Meanwhile FAB has raised the 6.0 Liter bi turbo V12’s output up from a mere 517 HP and boosts it well past the carbon fiber clad Black Series’ 650 HP and 738 lb-ft of torque up to a total of 750 HP and an astounding 738 lb-ft of torque. And while the SL’s top speed is electronically limited to a super car like 192 MPH, the sprint from 0 to 60 MPH now takes less than four seconds.

1980 - 1982 Ferrari 208 GTS

Ferrari 208 GTS

Along with the coupe version revealed in 1980, Ferrari also revealed a targa-roof version for the 208 GTB. Built especially for the Italian market, the 208 GTS remained into production until 1982 as its coupe brother, with 140 units produced, in only left drive version.

Designed by Pininfarina, the 208 GTS featured a pronounced wedge profile, with a rectangular egg-crate aluminium radiator grille below a slim full width satin black front bumper. A square section indent line ran along each body side between the front and rear bumpers, which was finished in satin black whatever the main body color. The doors featured scalloped intakes to the engine bay, the right one feeding the carburettor filter box, and the left one the oil cooler.

On the 208 GTS the rear quarter windows behind the doors were hidden behind hinged louvre panels, the left one giving access to the fuel filler cap. The only visual difference between the 208 GTS and the 208 GTB, was the black grained finish removable roof panel of the former, which was stowed in a cover behind the seats when not in place. At the rear there were twin circular light assemblies on the vertical recessed tail panel.

1931 Voisin C20 "Mylord" Demi-Berline on auction at Amelia Island

1931 Voisin C20 "Mylord" Demi-Berline on auction at Amelia Island

Back in 1930 the French automaker Gabriel Voisin unveiled the Voisin C20, however despite the vehicle’s extravagant two door cabriolet couch built body, it never made it past the working prototype stage. This is indeed a shame because the C20 is hailed as being one of the most sensational classics from the era, so the fact that it never made it into production is quite a shame. Luckily there is one example that has stood the test of time, code named Mylord it is believed to be the only C20 in existence. The elaborate grand tourer is powered by one of only five extraordinarily intricate Voisin 12 cylinder engines that are known to have been built, meanwhile Mylord’s interior draws heavily from its creator’s background in aviation with an array of dials and switches that are exposed for the driver to see. The auction house Gooding & Company have been fortunate enough to get their hands on this rare piece of automobilia and on March 12, 2010 at 4 PM at the Amelia Island Concours d’Elegance here in Florida, one lucky bidder will take home a true automotive icon.

BMW 335i Convertible by ATT

BMW 335i Convertible by ATT

When asking a BMW enthusiast which is their favorite model, they will almost undoubtedly tell you that the mighty M3 shines above the rest, especially when you let it loose on a race track. That is fine and good, however the reality of the fact is that a very small percentage of sports car owners will be wringing their heigh revving V8s out on the track or hanging the tail out with their M mode dynamic control enabled; instead most owners will spend hours on end in traffic waiting for the rare opportunity to crack open the throttle and do a little stop light drag racing. That is where the low end torque of a turbocharged engine comes into play, and there is no better example on the market today than the one found under the hood of a BMW 335i.

The only problem is that after a while you can become accustomed to the rush of the turbo and and the standard car’s 300 HP 3.0 Liter twin turbocharged straight six. However when that happens, instead of trading in your drop top Bimmer for an M3, you can look towards the after market where companies like the German tuner ATT is offering a multi stage power package that will raise your 3 Series output up to 345 HP and 355 lb-ft of torque, or if you are brave enough Power Level II boost the BMW to 362 HP and 388 lb-ft of thrust. Aside from the computer tuning, ATT is also offering a stainless steel exhaust, multi spoke 20 inch aluminum wheels and even a pair of M3 look alike fender vents complete with LED blinkers and all. So now there is absolutely no excuse to pay more for an M3.

Chrome-painted Lamborghini Murcielago LP640 Roadster shines in London

Chrome-painted Lamborghini Murcielago LP640 Roadster shines in London

As if prowling around the streets of London in a Lamborghini Murcielago LP640 Roadster isn’t stlyin’ and profilin’ enough, this man just had to take it over the top.

In the understatement of the millennium, this chrome-finished Murcielago is indeed eye-catching. We won’t pretend to try to dive into what the owner was thinking when he decided that the Murcielago he owned needed something to spice it up even more.

So instead of fine-tuning his supercar, he decided to go for the long ball and have it chrome-painted.

The result, as you can plainly see, is a car that you wouldn’t want to be staring at in broad daylight – unless, of course, you want to go blind - with the sun at its glorious peak.

2010 Lexus SC430

Lexus SC430

The Lexus SC430 luxury convertible is entering the 2010 model year with more standard technologies. It is now on sale at a price of $67,505.

The SC’s sleek style is enhanced by a low-profile front grille surrounded by chrome. The aggressive front bumper, projector-lens headlamps and stylish rear combination LED taillamps add to its fluid design. It comes equipped with iPod/USB Connectivity, Streaming Audio, Lexus Navigation System and Mark Levinson Premium Audio System.

The 2010 Lexus SC430 features an all-aluminum construction, and is powered by a 4.3-liter engine that produces 288 hp and 317 lb-ft of torque. It can go from 0 to 60 mph in a remarkable 5.8 seconds. The engine is mated to a six-speed Sequential-Shift automatic transmission. The sequential-shifting capability enhances performance by allowing the driver to nudge the gearshift forward or backward. It works in conjunction with the Electronically Controlled Transmission with intelligence (ECT-i), which compensates for uphills, downhills and headwinds, even adapting shift-timing to the driver’s acceleration habits.

Video: Bewerp Saavage Rivale Roadyacht GTS sounds off

If a contest were to be held featuring the world’s most peculiarly-named supercar, the Bewerp Savage Rivale Roadyacht GTS figures to be one of the odds-on favorites. After all, you don’t come across a lot of cars that are called ‘Roadyachts’ these days.

Eccentric names nothwisthanding, the Dutch supercar is a real looker in all aspects. Not only is it four-door, 600 horsepower monster, it actually has a pretty appealing aesthetic look, which helps a great deal considering that you’d need to do a pretty large amount of convincing on someone to purchase a $385,000 supercar on a car that’s not only horribly named, but looks down right hideous to boot.

Fortunately, the Bewerp Savage Rivale Roadyacht GTS is neither of those things (the name’s weird, but we’ve definitely heard worse).

Add that to this recent video of the Dutch supercar showing off its monstrous roar – albeit in a sidewalk – and Bewerp’s crown jewel looks – and sounds – more and more eye-catching by the day.

1986 - 1989 Ferrari GTS Turbo

Ferrari GTS Turbo

In the same year with the coupe version, Ferrari also brought the GTS Turbo. Like the GTB version, it was also specially built for the Italian market in order to avoid the extra taxes for the models with a displacement larger than 2,0 liters. The car remained into production from 1986 to 1989 with 828 units produced.

The GTS Turbo was in fact a turbocharged version for the 328 GTS, but powered by a 2,0 liter engine.

Like the 328 GTS, the GTS Turbo model presented a softening of the wedge profile of its predecessor, the 208 GTS Turbo, with a redesigned nose that had a more rounded profile, that was complimented by similar treatment to the tail valance panel.

Chevy Camaro Convertible by NCE

Chevy Camaro Convertible by NCE

While General Motors has not decided yet the official launch date of the Camaro Convertible, there are lots of tuners out there who are already offering a convertible version for the American muscle car.

And Newport Convertible Engineering is one of the tuners. The car has been on display at SEMA Show for those who wanted to see it, and for those who want to ride it the car is already available for ordering.

Except for the roof the car is pretty much a standard Camaro SS. It is also with about 100 lbs heavier, and can be offered with Forgiato cast-aluminum wheels — 22" in front and 24" in the rear.
