It comes with no surprise that the Jay Leno Chevrolet Camaro is the coolest and most radical of all the Camaro concepts at SEMA. And while everyone focused their attention of the SS version, he decided that a standard V6 version can also become a more powerful model.
So, with the addition of a pair of Turbonetics T-3 turbochargers the 3.6L direct injected V-6 delivers a total of 425 hp! That’s with 40% more than on a standard Camaro LS or LT.
Besides the incredible amount of power, the Jay Leno Camaro also features: a larger-capacity Be-Kool radiator and a custom exhaust system, as well as a Centerforce-supplied clutch and pressure plate for the six-speed manual transmission. There is also a new front fascia with custom fog lamps and integral brake cooling vents and the heritage-inspired vent styling in front of the rear wheels has been replaced with functional brake cooling ducts.

Despite the fact that General Motors has continuously delayed the launch of a drop top pony car once again you can’t stop automotive enthusiasts from chopping the roofs off of 2010 Chevrolet Camaro. It would be a difficult job to tell this yellow Camaro from Drop Top Customs apart from what will eventually roll off the line at GM’s Oshawa assembly plant in Ontario, Canada. Now they aren’t showing any close ups of the welds and that large convertible cover offers a lot of room to hide some unsightly craftsmanship, but if it never breaks then there will be no need to open it up. We will just have to take a closer look at the car when we see it at this year’s SEMA show where Drop Top Customs will most likely have more than one Camaro convertible on display.
Now Drop Top is asking for a solid $18,000 to give Camaro owners the opportunity to experience the wind in their hair at least a year and a half before the general market will be able to. The question you have to ask yourself is a $40,000 V6 Camaro really worth it? Perhaps as more and more of these modern muscle cars appear on the streets of the U.S. owners will be more inclined to pony up for the extra appeal, and when they do the Florida based shop will be waiting to help a few Camaro owners stay ahead of the pack.

The Chevrolet Equinox is the car that ushered in the era of the utilitarian Crossover at General Motors, so it is only appropriate that the new model come equipped with certain features that make for a very functional automobile with standard features like a 6 speed automatic transmission, direct injected gasoline engines, XM satellite radio, an iPod input jack, power everything and OnStar roadside assistance. However there is more to the crossover segment than reliability, these are the cars that will take families down the street to soccer practice and across the country to Disney World, so they need to be comfortable, attractive and engaging; especially for the back seat passengers.
Our well equipped 2010 Chevrolet Equinox AWD 2LT also came with some of the more desirable features being offered by GM, like the back up camera with park assist, power tailgate, Vehicle Interface Package that includes Bluetooth, the Chrome Exterior Appearance Package to dress up the outside, the Cargo Management Package that makes storage a snap in the back of the truck and the Rear Seat Entertainment System that includes some of the best designed backrest monitors on any new car today. However our personal favorite was the 18 inch machined aluminum wheels, Chevrolet offers rims as big as 19 inches in diameter, but we didn’t want to be too flashy. Of course, because we are Top Speed, Chevy made sure we tested the 3.0 Liter direct injected V6 that makes 264 HP and 222 lb-ft of torque version that is still able to get 17 MPG in the city and 24 MPG on the highway.

For the last 8 years Corvette Racing has dominated the GT1 category of the American Le Mans Series. Since they began the race spec Corvette has won at the 24 Hours of Daytona, the 12 Hours of Sebring and the 24 Hours of Le Mans, and since 2005 have been competing the C6.R against world-class grand touring cars from automakers like Aston Martin. For 2009 the factory backed racing effort has chosen to step down into the GT2 category in order to compete with the same cars on the track that the production model competes with in show rooms.
Chevrolet will bring out the next generation Corvette C6.R at the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course on August 6-8 in order to conduct preliminary testing for the redesigned and restricted race car. The latest version of the Corvette C6.R will be put to the ultimate test when it competes in the GT2 category for the final five rounds of the 2009 American Le Mans Series.
The Corvette race cars will be powered by 6.0 Liter GM small block that is based on the 7.0 Liter LS7.R that powered the outgoing GT1 version. The diameter of the series-mandated air intake restrictors has been decreased from 30.6 mm to 28.6 mm, which also drops engine output from a mighty 590 HP to a bit more conservative 470 HP. Hopefully the Corvette Racing engineers will be able to develop some new tricks to get the most out of the pushrod V8 that will lead to a more efficient production sports car in the future.
