When asking a BMW enthusiast which is their favorite model, they will almost undoubtedly tell you that the mighty M3 shines above the rest, especially when you let it loose on a race track. That is fine and good, however the reality of the fact is that a very small percentage of sports car owners will be wringing their heigh revving V8s out on the track or hanging the tail out with their M mode dynamic control enabled; instead most owners will spend hours on end in traffic waiting for the rare opportunity to crack open the throttle and do a little stop light drag racing. That is where the low end torque of a turbocharged engine comes into play, and there is no better example on the market today than the one found under the hood of a BMW 335i.
The only problem is that after a while you can become accustomed to the rush of the turbo and and the standard car’s 300 HP 3.0 Liter twin turbocharged straight six. However when that happens, instead of trading in your drop top Bimmer for an M3, you can look towards the after market where companies like the German tuner ATT is offering a multi stage power package that will raise your 3 Series output up to 345 HP and 355 lb-ft of torque, or if you are brave enough Power Level II boost the BMW to 362 HP and 388 lb-ft of thrust. Aside from the computer tuning, ATT is also offering a stainless steel exhaust, multi spoke 20 inch aluminum wheels and even a pair of M3 look alike fender vents complete with LED blinkers and all. So now there is absolutely no excuse to pay more for an M3.

We have said it before and we will say it again, modern engines and computer tuning have made it so easy to get more horse power from your car that the days of changing camshafts and getting your hands dirty are a thing of the past. That is because the amount of potential that can be unlocked with a simple microchip, when tuned correctly, is the simplest and most practical method of squeezing every last drop of output out of your car’s 21st century motor. One perfect example is the Porsche Panamera, from the factory the four door sports car is available with a hearty 500 HP under the hood.
The engine computer re calibration specialists at McChip already have a program that is designed to boost the Panamera’s 4.8 Liter turbocharged V8 by another 50 HP and bring torque up as far as 624 lb-ft when equipped with Porsche’s Sportchrono package. That’s not all, because with more power comes more responsibility, like the kind you experience at 193 MPH, the chipped Panamera’s new top speed. Although the German tuners McChip are asking more for this particular unit than you would expect to pay for an ordinary car, at $2,250 this is well within the range of power hungry Porsche owners, and they won’t even have to worry about getting greasy.

It seemed that everywhere you turned at the 2009 SEMA Show there were at least a few modified Hyundai Genesis Coupes in your field of vision. However there was one tuned two door that stood head and shoulders above the rest, taking a page out of last year’s playbook, the Korean car maker hired a team of expert Japanese tuners to make the most out of their newest sport compact, and if you thought that the HKS Genesis Coupe from the 2008 SEMA Show was jaw dropping, then Greddy’s take on the Genesis Coupe will leave you absolutely breathless with its aggressive body kit, good looking graphics and the mystery of what’s inside.
The Greddy Genesis coupe was put together with the typical array of parts from the Trust catalog like an Airinx intake filter, type RZ blow off valve, a full auto turbo timer and the legendary Profec B electronic boost controller. However a few of the more impressive parts that Greddy came up with for the new world engine based turbocharged four cylinder engine; like a larger 18 G turbocharger being fed hot air from a four into one tubular exhaust manifold, a high capacity intake manifold, Greddy’s latest in ECU technology the e-Manage to finish off the bolt on upgrades housed inside the engine bay.
The Genesis Coupes stance was adjusted to perfection thanks to a set of Greddy Type-S coilovers and had 20 pistons worth of brake calipers housed inside of a set of the Volk Racing TE-37 wheels. As impressive as those last few items might have sounded, none did as much for both performance and style of the modified Genesis Coupe as the Greddy Spectrum Elite exhaust peaking out underneath the new rear diffuser with its quad tip configuration and anodized blue finish. Once again Greddy has created an automotive masterpiece using their catalog of proven go fast parts without the need for unnecessary bling and Hyundai laid the foundation for them to do it.

The crew from Heffner Performance is back and this time they are teasing us with an audio track from their latest creation, a twin turbo kit for the Audi R8. You ought to remember these fellows because the last time we talked about them the topic of conversation was a 1005 HP Gallardo, so this boosted R8 is sure to impress.
Even though the twin turbo kit for the Audi will only net you about half the horse power as the Gallardo we previously mentioned, it is more than an adequate alternative to trading in your R8 for the new V10 model. However just being able to admire that beautiful pipe work every morning might be reason enough to upgrade. According to the folks at Heffner; "As of now the car is running on 6 psi and a 11.8 to 1 AFR and probably has a little more ignition timing removed than necessary to be on the safe side for now. This set up has given us a result of 536 RWHP. This is a 183 RWHP gain (more than a 50% increase) over what the car had when it came in with a Stasis exhaust and Revotech ecu tune. We will also be doing a 100 octane program that we expect to get near 600 RWHP which should put this car solidly in the high 10 second quarter mile range."

The new and improved V10 powered Audi R8 5.2 Liter FSI delivers a maximum output of 525 HP straight from the factory, and even though the ten cylinder engine shares almost all of its architecture with the more exotic Lamborghini Gallardo LP-560, the Italina super car puts out a total of 550 HP. However owners need not worry, because for a few extra Euro they can upgrade the brains of their R8 thanks to the German tuning firm MTM no matter whether they enjoy fixed roof motoring or enjoy their four ring super car with the wind in their hair.
For only 6000 Euros MTM will tune the V10 to deliver an additional 63 HP, bringing the total up to 588 HP, well above the Lambo. The added performance brings the standard car’s 3.9 second 0 to 60 MPH time down by 0.1 seconds and increases the mid engine super car’s top speed to 201 MPH. If you have some more money to burn then you might want to spring for the free flowing stainless steel exhaust system, upgraded Brembo brakes and a shiny new set of wheels to celebrate you car’s newfound performance.
