Audi TT:

The Audi TT is a compact sports coupe from the German automaker that was first introduced in 1998 with a 1.8T power plant before receiving a 3.2 Liter V6 making 250 HP and was refreshed back in 2007. Since then Audi has upgraded every member of the TT line to use their Quattro all wheel drive system as well as a few diesel burning mills to go along with the new 250 HP 2.0 Liter TFSI motor and is able to go from 0 to 60 MPH in only 5.9 seconds.

Audi TT gets new 1.8 TFSI engine

Audi TT gets new 1.8 TFSI engine

Audi is expanding the TT line with a new entry-level engine: the 1.8 TFSI. This highly efficient four-cylinder engine with turbocharger and direct injection, with 160 hp and 184.39 lb-ft torque, lends the TT Coupé and TT Roadster sporty performance. A second innovation rounds out the program: The 2.0 TFSI now is also available with quattro all-wheel drive.

With its 1,798 cc of volumetric displacement, the 1.8 TFSI is able to achieve power similar to that of a naturally aspirated V6 of years past: With engine output of 160 hp, it features peak torque of 184.39 lb-ft available between 1,500 to 4,500 rpm. The undersquare engine meanwhile offers great fuel efficiency – with the Coupé using just 6.7 liters per 100 kilometers (35.11 mpg) and the Roadster using 6.9 liters per 100 km (34.09 mpg).

The 1.8 TFSI, whose torque flows to the front wheels through a six-speed manual transmission, offers responsive, light-footed, high-revving and powerful performance. It propels the Audi TT Coupé to 62.14 mph in just 7.2 seconds, and on up to a top speed of 140.43 mph; for the Audi TT Roadster these figures are 7.4 seconds and 138.57 mph.

2008 Audi TT TDI

Audi TT TDI

Audi launched the TT Coupe 2.0 TDI quattro and TT Roadster 2.0 TDI quattro - the first series-production sports cars in the world to be powered by diesel engines.

The new two-liter, four-cylinder engine delivers dynamic thrust, with a power output of 170 hp and 258.15 lb-ft of torque.

The TT Coupe quattro with the 2.0 TDI sprints from zero to 62.14 mph in only 7.5 seconds and achieves a top speed of 140.43 mph. The Audi TT Roadster, likewise featuring quattro permanent all‑wheel drive, takes just two-tenths of a second longer in the standard sprint discipline and has a top speed of 138.57 mph.

The Coupe consumes on average just 5.3 liters of fuel over 100 km (44.38 mpg), representing CO2 emissions of only 139 grams/km; the figure for the Roadster is 5.5 l/100 km (144 grams of CO2/km).

Press release after the jump.

2008 Audi TT by HPA Motorsports

2008 Audi TT by HPA Motorsports

The car you see in the photos was at the begining a stock 2008 Audi TT powered by a 3.2-liter V6 engine capable of delivering 250 hp. HPA decided to customize this vehicle and added a twin turbo, a dual air-to-air side-mounted intercoolers and a high-flow fuel-supply system. The result was an outstanding 565 hp and some outrageous performances: 0-100 km/h in just 3.5 seconds and a top speed close to 320 km/h.

4.

The tuning company choosed to equip the car with a performance clutch and a reprogrammed mechatronic upping the launch control revs from 3000 rpm to around 5000 rpm. In order to make the car more special, HPA Motorsports added a custom Lamborghini Gallardo orange paint found also on the 19-inch Moda MD3 wheels wearing Dunlop SP Sport Maxx GT tyres. If you decided already to buy this car you have to know that the customization programme is available $60,000 and the price includes also the LSD Lambo doors.

Sport version for Audi TT and R8 on the way

Sport version for Audi TT and R8 on the way

Is not that the TT or the R8 are not sportier enough already, but Audi thought there might be people that want more! Audi’s Quattro GmbH development chief Stefan Reil dropped a hint that intensified, lightweight versions of the R8 supercar and TT sports car are under serious consideration.

With the R8 Sport, Audi will probably take a similar approach to performance as it did with the 2005 TT Quattro Sport, built in limited numbers during the last several months of the previous generation’s production run, although it never made it Stateside. That car featured a slight increase in horsepower for its turbocharged four-cylinder engine, a tauter suspension calibration, Recaro seats and a slight reduction in weight, primarily due to the removal of the rear seats/parcel shelf and the spare tire.

This means that the R8 Sport will have an output around 500 hp. It will also feature carbon ceramic brakes, the aerodynamic drag and the top speed will be increased.

Both R8 Sport and TT Sport will debut sometime in 2010.
