The Japanese automaker Acura has announced pricing for the 2010 ZDX full size four door sports coupe crossover. The ZDX concept is fresh off of the auto show circuit and its almost identical production car version will begin to pop up in showrooms starting on December 15 wearing a price tag that starts around $45,495 for the well equipped ZDX. The navigation including Technology Package will run you $49,995 and an advanced ZDX will run you around $56,045.
The 2010 Acura ZDX is powered by a 3.7 Liter V6 that makes 300 HP and 270 lb-ft of torque thanks to Honda’s proven VTEC variable valve timing system. The new luxury vehicle comes standard with safety features like a blind spot information system, Adaptive Cruise Control, Collision Mitigating Braking System and an active damper system. That is in addition to a few luxurious touches like heated and ventilated front seats wrapped in Perforated Milano Premium Leather as well as an exquisite brushed tricot headliner and a sport steering wheel.
The ZDX’s main competitor, and originator of the Sport Activity Vehicle segment, the BMW X6 starts at $56,300 and can climb as high as $67,050 for the more powerful V8 version. When you look at the numbers, the ZDX makes sense for the value minded customer.

2010 ZDX production car will look like. The
ZDX is a midsize crossover that was designed to merge the emotional appeal of a sports coupe and all-season, all-surface versatility, the all-new ZDX breaks new barriers for Acura and for the luxury market. Its "Passionate Getaway" design honors the driver and passenger first, while also providing an impeccably finished luggage storage area that bests that of most luxury sedans. The rear seat area, with its abbreviated doors and door handles creatively integrated into the C-pillar, accommodates three additional passengers as required for occasional trips. But overall, the ZDX targets its mission as a 2-passenger personal escape vehicle with unmistakable Acura style. Previewed at the 2009 New York Auto Show as a prototype, the 2010 ZDX is entering the auto market as a main competitor for the BMW X6. It features dramatic styling, outstanding performance and the latest in advanced technology. Sales will begin this winter and the ZDX will be offered in three distinct trim levels: the base ZDX, ZDX with the Technology Package and the top of the line ZDX with the Advanced Package. However prices have yet to be officially announced and are expected to be reveled sometime in the near future.

Acura had something new to show off in New York. It’s the BMW X6 and Infiniti FX fighter, the ZDX.
This SUV/sedan/coupe goes for the idea of making everything smooth. The body has the look of an SUV made out of stretched taffy (Acura’s new front “nose” gets even longer). The rear door handles don’t protrude and are hidden under the c-pillar. The interior has the look of a few flowing waves of black and white. The six-speed automatic transmission is even referred to as “smooth shifting”.
While the design is clear, the mechanical elements are not. We do know that the ZDX will use Acura’s Super Handling All-Wheel Drive system, but all the other parts bin pieces have not been accounted for yet. Acura mentions that it will be using a V6 engine, whether its the 300 hp 3.6-liter V6 from the TL/MDX, or the 280 hp 3.5-liter V6 unit from the TSX V6/Accord V6 has not been announced. We’re not too worried about what’s underneath the skin, because we know no matter what arrives in dealerships this fall, it’s still a good ’ol reliable Honda.

A couple of weeks ago dropped a few teaser images of its BMW X6 fighter. Now we have a name to go with the silhouette lurking in the shadows: ZDX.
“The ZDX prototype is unlike anything you have ever seen before from Acura,” said Jeff Conrad, vice president, Acura sales. While that may be true, underneath the skin we expect the mechanical bits to be a mixture from the ’ol reliable Honda/Acura parts bin.
We’ll get our first glimpse of the sedan/coupe/SUV next week at the New York Auto Show.
